Each week we are speaking to our 2019 Champions and ask them some all important questions to see what makes them tick.
Next up is 2019 TKM Extreme Top Rookie – Aaron Lask
How did you get started in the sport?
It started on my 8th birthday. My older brother was racing TKM at the time and I thought it was only fair my dad let me have a go on a corporate kart. I loved it and I’ve progressed from there.
What was the highlight of your Rookie title winning year?
For me, my highlight had to be my 5th place finish in the final at Whilton Mill. We’d had a tough year with lots of bad luck, but to finish on such a high and be racing with the best in Britain made it feel very special.
What was your low point last season?
Rissington, I’d been there once before and was up at the front. We had the worst of luck at the BKC round with a broken chassis and several crashes, it was definitely the lowest I’d been all year.
Why do you enjoy competing in Karting and the BKC?
I enjoy karting so much because it’s such a unique sport that so many others don’t get to experience. It’s a great way to escape and have fun. The BKC is full of the top drivers so to win in the BKC, you know you are doing something right.
What’s your favourite circuit?
My favourite circuit is Kimbolton, I’ve raced loads there over the last few years and it’s my local circuit.
Who has been your toughest rival?
I’m not sure who really, everyone out there is tough competition. In 2019 I had some good battles with Joseph Reeves-Smith.
When we do get underway, what are your hopes for the new season?
My aim is to finish in the top 10 in the British Championship. We have sown we have the pace so it’s down to me now to prove I can do it.
Due to the delayed start to the season what are you planning on doing with this unexpected time off from racing?
My plan is to keep in the best shape I can. Lots of exercise at home to make sure when racing does resume, I have an advantage on everyone else.
We wish Aaron and everyone in the BKC well. Stay safe and look after each other. We will be back in action before you know it #StayOnTrack
