Motorsport UK in association with KartSim, Alpha Live and Motorsport Games will be launching the Motorsport UK Karting Esports Championship (Easter Series) – Britain’s premier Karting Esports series on Monday 6 April, and the best thing, it’s open to all.
Karters and Esports drivers from around the world will contest the curtain raising Easter Series, which will be hosted between 6-14 April. The championship will be split into three categories with a class for Motorsport UK licence holders aged between 8-11 as well as a 12+ Motorsport UK licence holder class. The final category will be for anyone aged 12 and over and open to any driver around the world.
The Esport proceedings will get underway with Hot Laps at Buckmore Park for four days between Monday 4 April and Thursday 9 April. Servers will go live at 10am on Monday and switched off at 10pm on Thursday evening, with the fastest drivers invited into the Semi Finals.
The knock-out format continues at Glan-y-Gors on the 13-14 April. The Semi Finals will be streamed live across the Motorsport UK, British Kart Championship and Alpha Live channels. Motorsport UK licence holders will do battle on Monday 13 April with the Open Class following a day later.
Then, the tension will build as the Finals will be hosted at PF International for all three classes on Thursday 16 April, with all the racing once again streamed live across the Motorsport UK, BKC and Alpha outlets.
“This is a very exciting project for Motorsport UK and the British Kart Championships,” enthused Kart Manager at Motorsport UK, Dan Parker. “With the current worldwide situation, we got together with our amazing partners KartSim, Alpha Live and Motorsport Games to put together our first Esports series. We look forward to seeing our BKC regulars do battle virtually and encourage as many of them to get involved, it’s going to be a great deal of fun.
