This weekend, 26 – 27 September, marks the fifth event of the revised 2020 British Kart Championships calendar, the second round of the Bambino championship and the third IAME round. The event, which is hosted at Mansell Raceway, will see six IAME and Bambino classes take to the Devonshire track to try and claim vital points to be crowned British Kart Champion.
IAME Cadet Championship leader Macauley Bishop will return this weekend try and extend his current championship lead. During the last round at Kimbolton, Zac Drummond claimed the top step of the podium. Drummond will also return this weekend to contest for the win.
In the Mini X30 class, Fusion Motorsport driver Vinnie Phillips is also returning to try and extend his championship lead. Phillips’s mature driving style makes him a sure contender to win this weekend. However, he’s likely to feel the pressure from the current runners up in the championship, Leo Robinson and Gabriel Stilp, as they take to the track during this event.
It was Daryl Taylor, Bart Harrison and Archie Walker who made up the podium during Kimbolton’s Junior X30 final. A stunning performance from Taylor saw him climb seven places to claim the top step during the final. With all three drivers returning this weekend, all eyes will be on the Junior X30 finals to see who will be victorious.
The Senior X30 will see 2019 British Kart Champion Danny Keirle return to the track to defend his title and extend his lead for 2020 championship. However, we are likely to see Keirle be hunted down on track by Argenti Motorsport’s Morgan Porter and BMR driver Harry Platten, as the formidable trio have battled for position with each other at every event so far.
For only the second time this year, the Bambino class returns racing. During the last round at Rowrah, Luca Holmes-Balac climbed an incredible eight places to cross the line as the winner, followed by Edward Haynes in second place and Finlay Hinds in third. Less than half a second separated the top three during the exciting race.
As usual, the action from Mansell Raceway will be live-streamed on the British Kart Championship Facebook page, here: https://www.facebook.com/BritishKartChampionships
