Motorsport UK are delighted to announce the eagerly awaited details of the Honda Cadet British Open Championship which will be held at the popular Whilton Mill kart circuit on 26 September.
The prestigious `O plate` champion will be crowned at the Northamptonshire track which will feature a dynamic new look to the 2021 event. For the very first time, the Open Championship will employ an academy style event, suppling the entrants with sealed Honda GX200 engines supplied by RPM Racing Engines for all of the track action.
Each powerplant will be checked and dyno-tested to ensure that all units will be within 0.1HP, promoting a level playing field with engines being drawn at random for each driver.
Support from Dunlop and RPM has meant that entrants can enjoy a subsidised entry fee, engine and tyre supply for the event. The entry fee for the weekend has been set at a competitive £295.00 which includes race fees, slick tyres and engine hire.
The timetable has been created to enable drivers to contest the traditional Whilton Mill Kart Club meeting and also compete in the Open Championship utilising the pooled engines.
Dan Parker, Motorsport UK Karting Manager commented “I have always been keen to explore the possibility of academy style racing where equal equipment and cost-effective racing is available for everyone.”
“I believe the Honda Cadet British Open Championship is the ideal time for us to offer both drivers and parents the chance to compete for this prestigious title in a class that has seen many of today’s top drivers contest. Stars such as Lando Noris, Alex Albon, Daniel Ticktum, Jessica Hawkins and current Formula 3 driver Oliver Bearman have all raced in the Honda Cadet class during their careers and this further enhances the wide range of karting opportunities that Motorsport UK can offer talented youngsters on their chosen path in the sport.”
“We are extremely grateful that Motorsport UK have chosen Whilton Mill Kart Club to host the Honda Cadet O Plate round” said Dan Rust, Whilton Mill Sport and Operations Manager.
“The Honda Cadet class has proven to be the most popular of all classes at WMKC which has been extremely successful, and we look forward to seeing all the competitors battle it out for the O Plate at Whilton Mill Kart Circuit.”
Places are limited for the event and entries will be accepted on a first-come-first-served basis.
