The Wera Tools British Kart Championship reaches a thrilling climax in October as the PF International circuit hosts the final round of the 2021 IAME, Rotax, Honda Cadet and Bambino season.
In the hotly contested IAME Cadet class, championship leader Zac Drummond heads to the Lincolnshire circuit with an impressive 55 point lead over the chasing Lewis Wherrell. We catch up with the 12-year old Fusion Motorsport driver ahead of the series showdown.
BKC: What has been your highlight of 2021?
ZD: Winning both rounds of the double header at my home track Larkhall in July.
BKC: Your season has been impressive, but what have you struggled with or was a low point?
ZD: The first round at Shenington was a tough one. I struggled a bit and wasn’t the start I was hoping for. I just hoped it wasn’t going to set the tone for the season ahead.
BKC: Coming into 2021 – did you think you would be fighting for the title?
ZD: I hoped I would be, having won the Honda British Championship in 2020 I was coming into 2021 with confidence and having the best team in Fusion Motorsport behind me I am delighted to be in this position going into the final rounds.
BKC: What is your approach for the final rounds?
ZD: Keep calm, stay focused and do my best. Same as every other round.
BKC: What are your plans for 2022?
ZD: I am not sure yet, I need to move out of Cadet’s now but haven’t thought too much about this until we complete the final rounds.
