Harry Hannam has an impressive list of karting accolades under his belt despite being just 14-years-old and can now add Wera Tools British Kart Championships Junior Rotax Top rookie to his honours in 2022.

The Dubai born Briton has been a competitive racer in both the UAE and here in the UK with his campaign marking his maiden BKC season.  But the Jack Dex Racing team member overcame his lack of knowledge of the British circuits to scoop 20th overall and top Rookie, in a field of over 70 racers in the hotly contested Junior Rotax category.

“Delighted” says Hannam.

“With there being a very high level of competition, [it was] a nice reward for all of the traveling I had to do! I have the appetite to come back and do even better in the overall championship next year.”

A progressive season started well, sawing his way from 27th to 10th in the opening round of the season at PFi and securing a pole at Kimbolton.

“It was tough learning all of the new tracks from scratch which really affected my qualifying making me start at the back in the heats, which definitely helped me improve my overtaking skills. I managed to get directly into the A-Final in each round with one good qualifying session, getting pole at Kimbolton. [But it was tough] learning all of the new tracks as quick as possible on the practice day and then keep learning in the heats, hopefully you should have good pace for the final. Racing at Whilton for the last two rounds with an injured arm after a big crash in official practice [was also difficult]. Amazed myself how much racing makes you override pain.”

With his sights set on winning Kartmasters and becoming a pro racing driver, Hannam is currently working on 2023.

“[We are currently working on] Racing Junior Max in the UAE championship and we want to get to the Rotax Grand Finals again. We are also looking to get the budget to come back for the British Kart Championships. Big thanks to Jack Dex for all of the support on and off the track. Recommend any international driver to enter the Wera British Kart Championships if they have a chance, brilliant experience and you learn so much very quickly.”

Quite right Harry!
