The Motorsport UK Wera Tools British Kart Championships enjoyed a memorable weekend of racing during the Queen’s 70th year of reign celebrations [3-5 June], as the Larkhall Circuit near Glasgow hosted the fourth event in the BKC calendar.
The popular Scottish racetrack hosted 165 drivers from the Rotax and Honda Cadet classes with the narrow and technical nature putting some of Britain’s best karters to the test on the second round of their season so far. With soaring temperatures, tyre choice was a simple affair, leaving the racers to do the talking on track over the three days of action.

CLASSES
MINI MAX
Scott Marsh [DHR] had a sensational start to his season at PFi, coming away with the lead of the championship and was eager to repeat that achievement in Scotland. And he did.
An impressive clean sweep of maximum scores saw Marsh blitz the opposition with a win in both Heats on Saturday, the pre-Final and the Final. He has never been outside of the podium places in both meetings this season and now holds a 22-point lead over nearest rival Noah Wolfe.
Wolfe [Synergy Racing Developments] couldn’t quite match Marsh on pace, finishing over 2 seconds behind on the final but nevertheless racked up a host of points in a trouble-free weekend. Joshua Graham [Argenti Motorsport] started fourth on the grid but made that a podium place by the flag, taking third. He took Sebastian Minns [KR-Sport] place who landed fourth whilst rookie Finn Leslie rounded out the top five for Sam Pollitt Racing.

JUNIOR ROTAX
With 56 Junior Rotax contenders heading to Larkhall, it would be an intense battle for top honours in Scotland and the tricky track saw a new championship leader take over the reins. Topping the intermediate heats classification and then winning the pre-Final, Brandon Carr [KR-Sport] was set for a top score in the Final but had to give way to Junior Rotax newcomer Macauley Bishop [DHR] who was contesting his first round of the season.
Carr now leads the championship, but Bishop well and truly stamped his mark, making up four places in the final to take the all-important victory. Aditya KULKARNI [Argenti Motorsport] has been progressing with each race this season and took his maiden podium with third in the Finals. Vinnie Phillips [Strawberry Racing] took fourth whilst Neo Clarke [Tooley Motorsport] returned a sensational recovery drive, making up 16 places to round out the top five.

SENIOR ROTAX
Kai Hunter [DHR] well and truly landed back on the scene at Larkhall with a Pre-Final and Final win after a shaky start to the season at PFi. Coupled with second place in the Intermediate Heats Classification, his performance puts him second in the championship to the ultra-consistent Callum Bradshaw [Strawberry Racing]. Bradshaw took the Heats max score, and a podium in the Pre-Final and Final saw him extend his championship lead to 30 points.
Matthew Higgins [DHR] recovered from a retirement in the Heats to climb 14 places in the pre-Final and ensure he was in contention for the Final. His hard work was rewarded with second spot.
Thomas Fleming [DHR] was fourth whilst Guy Cunnington [Strawberry Racing] rounded out the top five to sit just two points adrift of Hunter in the championship standings in third.

HONDA CADET
Synergy Racing Developments locked out the Honda Cadet podium at Larkhall, with their drivers occupying the top-three spots in the Finals. But there hasn’t been another name aside from Denholm at the top of the Cadet charts all season so far, as Cole took yet another top point score away from the BKC weekend.
He was chased hard by Max Endacott in the Final who started sixth on the grid, whilst teammate Jarrett Clark rounded out the podium in third. Giving Synergy fourth to boot, championship newcomer Finlay Lines enjoyed the best result of the season, climbing to fifth in the points to boot.
Albert Friend [SFR Motorsport] was on fine form during the weekend but couldn’t quite make it stick in the finals to take fifth spot but also become Denholm’s nearest championship challenger.

The British Kart Championships now head to Wales for the fifth meeting of the season, as IAME, KZ2 and Bambino contenders head to Glan-Y-Gors on 17-19 June.
