It’s been just under a week since the Wera Tools British Kart Championships were in action, but Britain’s premier karting series blasts back to the track, with Clay Pigeon Raceway hosting the ninth meeting of the 2022 season this weekend [26-28 August].
It’s the turn of the Rotax and Honda classes this time around who head to the southwest track for the fourth round of their respective campaigns. The Wera Tools sponsored series will tackle the Dorchester based, 815-metre circuit, famed for its pivotal role in the honing of F1 driver Jensen Button’s skills as a young karter.
Whilst we click over into the second half of the season for many of the other categories, the eager racers will begin to ramp up their season as they head towards the finale’ in mid-October.
Another high-quality entry list in the Mini Max, Junior Rotax and Senior Rotax classes will be bolstered by the closely contested Honda Cadet racers with a busy weekend of on-track action in store.
The weekend will also host a special Micro Max event where the winner will qualify for the Rotax MAX Challenge Grand Finals at the Kartodromo Internacional do Algarve in November.
Friday will play host to the Official Practice Sessions which continue into Saturday morning. Saturday also hosts Timed Qualifying and the first Heats whilst Sunday houses the Repechage for Rotax, Pre-Finals and of course the all-important Finals.

Classes
Mini Max
Noah Wolfe [Synergy Racing Developments] began to make some in-roads on the points deficit to the championship leader last time out at Warden Law with a scintillating Finals performance.
A Heats podium and Final win closed the gap to 12 points, but it’s Scott Marsh [DHR] who is in command as the series spirals towards the final throws. Marsh finished outside of the podium positions for the first time in 2022 at Warden, so will be looking to get back on the top step at Clay.
Junior Rotax
Whilst Brandon Carr [KR-Sport] heads to Dorset in the lead of the standings, it was Vinnie Phillips [Strawberry Racing] who impressed in the North East, moving into second overall after taking his first win of the season.
Phillips enjoyed a strong weekend to become Carr’s nearest rival and opened up a significant 35-point gap to third-placed Gustav Usakovs [Hunter Motorsport].
Usakovs progression this season culminated in a Heats victory and Finals runner-up spot for the Latvian.
Charlie Hart [Sam Pollitt Racing] and Aditya Kulkarni [Argenti Motorsport] sit fourth and fifth in the standings respectively heading to Clay Pigeon. With an impressive grid, you can expect yet more exciting racing during the weekend from the Junior protagonists.
Senior Rotax
Kai Hunter [DHR] was always going to be the racer to beat at Warden Law, thanks to the circuit being family owned but with five other events to contend with, just one meeting wouldn’t be enough to walk away with a title.
Luckily, Hunter also scooped a win at Larkhall, but such is the talent behind him, just has an eight-point lead over Callum Bradshaw [Strawberry Racing]. A third at Warden for Bradshaw ended a tricky weekend, but it was teammate Guy Cunnington who took the runner-up spot to close within nine points.
Mattie Hingeley [Ultimate-R] has some work to do to catch the leaders and sits fourth, whilst Lewis Gilbert [Potenza Racing Engines] sits in fifth place.
Honda Cadet
Can anyone catch Cole Denholm [Synergy Racing Developments]? Well, there is an abundance of Honda Cadet racers who are willing to try after Denholm’s third consecutive Finals victory takes him into an impressive 65-point championship lead.
Synergy teammate Jarrett Clark finished second at Warden Law and puts him in the same place in the standings, moving ahead of Albert Friend [SFR Motorsport] who suffered a torrid Warden Law Final.
Noah Barham [Synergy Racing Developments] continues to improve this season and sits fourth whilst series newcomer and teammate Finlay Lines is just eight points adrift in fifth.
Micro Max
With a free entry into the ROTAX Challenge Grand Final qualifier events in Portugal this November, there is plenty to play for as the young racers go head-to-head for the prestigious honour.
