Formula TKM was created to provide close and competitive racing unique to the UK. Thousands of drivers have competed in TKM, including FIA World Champions Jenson Button and Anthony Davidson, double BTCC champion Colin Turkington and Abbi Pulling, currently one of the UK’s top women race drivers.
The TKM Junior and Senior classes are joined this year by a new Inter class providing a cost-controlled pathway that drivers can follow from the calendar year of their 10th Birthday (providing the driver holds a Motorsport UK National grade Competition Licence).
The classes are powered by the TKM BT82 engine made by Tal-Ko, the only kart race engine manufacturer in the UK. The engines are strictly controlled to ensure minimum tuning, most using the latest TAG (touch and go) technology. Maxxis TKM slick and wet tyres provide the grip.
As one of the UK’s oldest classes, TKM is proud to be part of the British Kart Championships and looks forward to another year of ultra close racing where just fractions of a second often separate the grid after timed qualifying.
Because of the strict controls on engine performance, it places maximum accent on driver skills to bring them to the front in what are normally breath-taking overtakes and slip stream battles to the flag. No wonder it produces world champs.
Competitors will race head-to-head against each other at a variety of well-known circuits across the UK.
Championships feature a number of different classes based on driver age and kart specification. Each class has its own races within the meeting.
