For the IAME, TKM and Bambino classes in the Wera Tools British Kart Championships, it all comes down to this.
PF International plays hosts to their final event of their season this weekend and [23-25 September] the exciting double-header weekend is set to see each class crown their champions at the Lincolnshire track.
Six prestigious British titles will be awarded as Bambino, IAME Cadet, Junior X30, Senior X30, Junior TKM and TKM Extreme championship contenders go head-to-head for the honour after yet another scintillating season of top-drawer competition.
And PFi’s International ‘A’ Grade Track licence is offers an intimidating 1382m layout for the season finale’, including an up-and-over segment which adds to the challenge for the eager racers as they look to close out their campaigns in style.
Spectators are welcome to watch the action trackside, but for those unable to attend in person, series broadcast partners Alpha Live will once again be providing unrivalled coverage from the weekend with paddock news and race day coverage on the dedicated BKC Live page [HERE].
Bambino
With just four counting rounds of the 2022 season, the Bambino category offers little room for error for the progressive youngsters to scoop the title. In the box seat heading to the season close is Riley Murro who has almost dominated the category, only a season-opening second place blotting a clean sweep of wins.
Murro enjoys a 27-point lead heading into the final meeting of the year and with drop scores, will be almost impossible to beat.
Chester Forkes and Austin Oman are tied for second place despite a tough weekend last time out but have to watch Harper Das behind in fifth who is just 11 points adrift. Only 23 points separate the remaining places to ninth, so expect every point to count in the Heats and Finals.
IAME Cadet
Fusion Motorsport’s Jesse Phillips stands proud at the top of the championship standings heading into the weekend which will see four points scoring opportunities. Thirty points stand between him and teammate Jensen Graham, as Jorge Edgar and Kit Belofsky make it a Fusion one to four.
Belofsky enjoyed his third Finals win of the season last time out and is on good form heading into the weekend but will need to work hard to climb the standings and challenge Phillips for the title.
Henry Domain upholds the Oliver Rowland Motorsport honours in fifth but is 45 points adrift. Dropped scores and bonus points, however, make that gap seem reachable with a top drawer score at PFi.
Junior X30
Gabriel Stilp’s [Croc Promotion] win last time out extended his championship lead over Fionn McLaughlin of Fusion Motorsport to 33 points. They both have a healthy lead over Harry Burgoyne Jnr [Mick Barrett Racing] but his results have been on the rise recently and could throw a spanner in the works for the top two protagonists.
Macauley Bishop [DHR] has also shown a great form of late, hasn’t converted that into points and sits fourth in the standings whilst Leo Robinson rounds out the top five for Fusion Motorsport.
Like its younger siblings, four points scoring opportunities and bonus points on offer mean the top five could well see a shakeup by the time the flag drops on the final lap of the 2022 season.
Senior X30
Bart Harrison [Mick Barrett Racing] will need to dig deep this weekend to uphold his lead in the championship and lift the crown. He currently has just seven points in hand over Gus Lawrence [PF International Karting] heading into the decider. Lawrence took the Heat and Pre-Final wins last time out and runner-up spot in the Final so has the pace to push for the top spot, but will undoubtedly be hounded by a gaggle of equally impressive racers all eager to claim glory.
Harry Platten [BMR] was outside of the podium at Whilton Mill and sits just one point ahead of Aaron Walker [Strawberry Racing]. Sam Heading’s [MDL Motorsport] points from 2022 show an impressive trajectory towards the top and scooped his maiden BKC win at Whilton. He sits fifth, but only 33 points shy of the lead such is the tightly contested series.
Junior TKM
Leon Frost [TWM] enjoys more top scores than anyone in Junior TKM and predictably leads the standings, but it’s far from a done deal when it comes to the title fight.
“Frosty” has an impressive 46 points in hand over the chasing Oliva Jakins who has yet to take a maximum points to haul in 2022. Her consistency is impressive though and that has given her second in the standings, with an 18-point bugger of TWM’s Ollie Rands.
Tyla Harris secured his first win of the season at Whilton in a nail-biting photo finish and is just one point back from Rands whilst Yehan Kallychurn [Klaassen Motorsport] sits fifth.
Less than 100 points separate the top 13 places so a shake-up of the standings is more than likely after the weekend.
TKM Extreme
Podium places were still swapping around at the penultimate meeting of the season as Sam Johns [TWM] moved into second place ahead of Aaron Lask [RSR] after a Whilton third spot. But Chris Whitton remains at the top thanks to never being outside of the top three points-paying positions all season long.
He heads into the weekend with an impressive 50-point difference but with close racing, exciting overtakes and thrilling battles in store – it may not be a done deal for Whitton.
Harvey Roffe [TWM] took a Whilton win to sit fourth, whilst Ben Watson [Klaassen Motorsport] sits fifth.
