Motorsport UK Wera Tools British Kart Championship IAME Cadet racer Jarlath Sayer has gone above and beyond to help fellow children forced to flee war-torn Ukraine, by devising a sponsored endurance race to raise money for refugees at Lewis Hamilton’s old track, Rye House in Hertfordshire.

Sayer, who races for the Jamie Green Racing squad came up with the idea after seeing children and families on TV having to flee their country.

“I saw the news and felt sorry for all the people in Ukraine” he says.

“I thought they did nothing wrong, and I imagined how I would feel if I was in that situation, and how I would have to leave my country, my house and my hobby.”

“As I love go-karting, I thought I could do a race to help raise money. It makes me very happy and proud to be doing something to help other people.”

“I am so excited about the Support Ukraine Kart event in a weeks time. I feel so sad for all the people of Ukraine having to leave their homes. I really hope we raise lots of money to help. Please please buy some raffle tickets or even come on the day to support us. “
